The Wicked Kitchen

2F 189 Maginhawa corner Makadios, Sikatuna Village, Quezon City
Greed. Envy. Gluttony. Wrath. Pride. Sloth. Lust.
These are the seven deadly sins according to the Bible which many people are avoiding.
But in a themed restaurant that started in Maginhawa street, The Wicked Kitchen offers food enthusiasts a good new twist of desserts that they can be delighted with. This then has become the trademark of the said resto—
seven-deadly-sins desserts.

Its owner, Chef Katrina Laxamana who worked in a pub in Australia for two years, have been accustomed not only to the country’s culture but also its dishes.
When she came back to the Philippines, she decided to give her restaurant the name “Wicked”, a slang word in Aussie that means brilliant, awesome, extravagant, cool, and any other words that mean extraordinary.

From “gluttony” which is made of soft, chewy chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on top, to “sloth” which is chocolate lava cake with ice cream, to “greed” which is made of puffed mallows and grahams. They also have their newest product, “karma” which is made of sriracha strawberry milkshake, where sriracha, a hot sauce, is its topping.

What I tried in the resto is their version of smores, or what they call greed. It was really made of gooey marshmallow that will go with your graham crackers as you dip it.
It was so sweet, and I am sure that food enthusiasts, especially those who love sweets will love this treat. It was really sweet that you need to drink lots of water after you eat it. It was truly sinfully good.

The restaurant, with its Aussie-inspired name, also features dishes from the country where the owner used to work. One twist that is made by the resto is its beer-battered dishes such as the fish and chips, chicken fillet, onion rings, and calamari.

But the owner is not contented with the Aussie-theme of dishes, so she put Filipino style dishes too. Its best sellers are its sisig, crispy binagoongan , and Pinoy beefsteak. They also have pastas and burgers, which gives another dimension to its menu by not limiting the dishes that they can serve to their customers.

Almost all of the dishes are very affordable, ranging from 150 pesos to 250 pesos. Your money would surely not be wasted, especially if you come to eat and enjoy with your friends.

The place is small, but it was maximized with the use of numerous tables where many guests can occupy it. It is very artsy, with its use of colorful wallpapers, and artistic designs which makes the place more interesting.
However, the place is not so cozy where one can actually spend more time and relax. Its chairs are too small which made it look like a fast-food restaurant where customers dine and then just leave after eating.

However, upon entering the resto, no one approached us, or even said “welcome”. Even as we sat down in our table, the staff just looked at us and did not approach us. In fact, I myself had to get the menu from the counter because nobody from the resto initiated to do so. Its staff was not very approachable, they did not even ask if we have any other requests, or smile at the least.

But overall, its foods are good. And I must say that its seven deadly sins are worth the try—even if it is against your beliefs. It would be best to come here after a stressful day, week, or semester to eat something sweet.
After all, stressed spelled backwards is desserts.
